Holiday Inn Montego Bay

Those of us that reside in cold countries know of the benefits of a nice relaxing getaway. So in January I booked well in advance for a summer a escape. As always, I went to Jamaica lol. But this was my first time staying at an all inclusive and I have to say that I loved it!

The Holiday Inn was the most reasonably price AI that I could find and it had mixed reviews online. Some raved about it, others weren't so impressed. The minute I saw pictures online I was convinced I'd been to this place before. Upon arrival I was completely sure! On a trip waaay back in 2006 or 2007, back when Air Jamaica was still operating to the UK, my return flight was delayed and so the airline sent us to this hotel to get something to eat. When I say delayed, I mean severe! The flight was at 7pm and didn't leave til about 1 in the morning. That being said, even though it was night when I went, I still recognised the hotel. So, fast forward to 2016 and I finally get to stay here!

The room was a standard hotel room. Beds, tv, bathroom and balcony. Comfortable and a great size. There were a few swimming pools. I only used the adult one with the swim up bar :D It was nice to be served drinks while you enjoy a swim. The sea water was absolutely clear. It was gorgeous! There were fish in the water but they didn't bother me too much. Only one that surprised me while I was sitting by the shore as it swam up to my legs! The water is waist height and it was great to be able to wade over to the little (man made) island with lunch and a drink in hand! Moving on to the food, that was what I really loved about this hotel, aside from the magnificent beach. There was food available all day. There was a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And in the meantime in between time there is a jerk hut (I never visited it though!) serving jerk chicken and pork, a bar serving drinks and on the opposite side you could get burgers, hot dogs and fries. Im not much of a burger fan but the burgers were delish! And lastly there was another hut where you could get ice cream, nachos and popcorn. I tried everything (because I paid so why not?) The 'cheese' on the nachos are too salty, yeuch! The butter for the popcorn, which my greedy self laced in butter because I love butter popcorn, was again, salt city! The only thing I enjoyed from there was the ice cream. I had both the chocolate and the vanilla. So the plus of this hotel is the great beach and the fact that you never go hungry! The buffet had a good variety of American and Jamaican style food. There were also four on site restaurants. Three of which were free. I tried too. The fish was exquisite in the Jamaican restaurant. I must admit I didn't really like anything I had in the Italian restaurant. The other restaurants are seafood and a Japanese restaurant that you had to pay $20 US extra for. All require reservations. All in all it was a great trip! I would definitely go again. And for those with kids, they had entertainment and games for them which was a whole lot of fun to watch.
