Cuba is a country I've wanted to visit for a long time, I was drawn in by its unique history after learning about Cuba in school in Jamaica. Cuba is also one of jamaicas closest neighbours (as well as Cayman). I had always wanted to do a cruise and after getting a taste of one on a Carnival cruise in December 2016, I booked another one for my birthday in January 2017.
On this particular cruise called the Cuban fusion, (operated by Thomson) the first stop for us was Cayman and then Cuba next. When I got up for breakfast on day three of our cruise we were already there.

Just the view from the ship alone was so strikingly different to anything I had seen in the Caribbean. Cuba has massive buildings and many of course are from the colonial era. I was so excited I could barely eat breakfast! The ship was completely empty because most people had gone on tours and got off early.
Immigration was straight forward and once out if the terminal I reached for my camera because the classic cars were just so beautiful! My only regret is that I didn't get to ride in one but there's always next time right? I got to take a picture by one though!

The guy was loading up with tourists and I ran beside the car to take a pic 😆 that pink was so beautiful! But I digress (forgive me and my tangents) Once through the terminal I wanted to find an open top bus so I could get to see much more of the city. When I got off at a square that was where I took the picture with the car. I also got to use the internet in Cuba, you have to buy cards like phone/calling cards and you get 1hr, 3hrs, 5hrs depending on what you buy. It seemed to be mostly hotels but sold these cards. The Cuban people were friendly and of course some were trying to hustle but I know how to stick to my guns. On the open top bus it cost 10 Cuban convertible pesos to be able to hop on and off all day. The city was beautiful, even though it is clearly old it was very developed. It definitely had a Spanish vibe and felt very similar to Spain. The bus drove by revolution square (I will upoad photos when I sort out my camera.

I'd love to explore a lot more including Cuban food. I went into a church yard and that was very pretty. I'd love to visit a beach there too! Look out for me Cuba 🇨🇺
