I had the privilege to attended the Afro Caribbean Expo in Bristol on Saturday which is the first of its kind! Not only that, but I was showcasing my novel, Tropical Bay. It was my first time in Bristol and being part of a large event. I arrived at 9am to set up and the doors would open to the public at 11am. Before we had even officially started I made the first sale of my book! It was to a lovely lady who was setting up her stall, she was selling Caribbean produce.

I sat next to 'Trini' a lady from Trinidad and she turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip! Super positive and delightful. She is the CEO of yellow butterfly communications and she has a device to make communication between people easier for this who can't write. For example elderly people, those with disabilities or small children. She gave me lots of encouraging advice. I met with Garfield from The Gleaner and The Voice newspapers, he had some books on sale too. Digicel, Jamaica National and Victoria Mutual were also present as well as The Jamaican High Commission. One lady was selling some beautiful ethnic dolls and another had some tasty coconut infused cake. The lady to my left made and sold her own hair and body are products. Being around all these entrepreneurs was very inspirational.
